The Municipality of Vieira do Minho eliminated 175 velutina wasp nests in the last six months, according to data released by the local authority. This action represents a significant effort in combating the proliferation of the Asian wasp in the region.
Currently, there are five identified nests that still await intervention from the municipal services. These pending nests are part of the continuous monitoring and elimination work being carried out in the municipality.
During the period under analysis, 624 projectiles were used to eliminate the nests. This number reflects the scale of the operation and the method used to destroy the swarms safely.
No cases of recurrence of the eliminated nests were recorded, which indicates that the interventions carried out were effective. Only during the last month additional nests were eliminated, although the article does not provide the exact number for that period.
