Fire hits area under viaduct in Sampaio, North Zone of Rio

A fire hit an area under a viaduct on Marechal Rondon Avenue, in Sampaio, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, on Wednesday morning. The flames caused a column of smoke that could be seen from far away.

The Fire Department was called at 8:14 AM, and teams from the Vila Isabel barracks went to the scene to fight the flames. There are no reports of injuries.

Because of the fire, there are impacts on traffic in the area. Both directions of the Sampaio Elevated highway are closed, and municipal guards are directing drivers about alternatives.
