Two oil tankers caught fire this Wednesday after an alleged contact with mines in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most strategic and sensitive maritime corridors in the world for crude transport.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard was the entity that reported the incident, also accusing the ships of having followed an unauthorized route in the strait's waters.
This new episode comes in a context of growing tension in the Strait of Hormuz region, a sea lane through which a significant proportion of the world's oil passes.
