Time deposits in Portugal reached a new historic high in July, with a new operations amount of 13,704 million euros, according to data from the Bank of Portugal. This value represents an increase of 1,686 million euros compared to June.
The average remuneration of new time deposits by individuals rose to 1.59% in July, a growth of 0.4 percentage points compared to June, when the rate stood at 1.55%. This increase represents the sixth consecutive month of rises.
The current value of 1.59% constitutes the highest value since April 2025, when the average rate reached 1.64%. The Bank of Portugal was the entity that revealed this data on the evolution of the deposit market in the country.
