Anthropic closed a $35 billion deal with Lambda, a cloud services provider backed by Nvidia, to secure computing capacity at a data center in Texas, with capacity of around 350 megawatts. Collective dismissals rise to 375 by July, highest value since 2020

Portuguese companies reported 375 collective dismissals by July, an increase of about 13% compared to the same period last year and the highest value since 2020, according to DGERT data. Despite the increase in the number of collective dismissal processes, the number of workers actually affected fell 11.4%, to 4,055 people, reflecting a decrease in the scale of the processes. Lisbon and Vale do Tejo leads with 63% of workers dismissed in July, and manufacturing industries were the sector with the greatest impact.
