Spain approves 'shock plan' of 309 million euros to respond to the migration crisis in Ceuta

SAPO Notícias1 September 2026 at 15:18

The Spanish government approved, this Tuesday, a "shock plan" worth 309 million euros for Ceuta. The objective is to respond to the impacts caused by the migratory crisis in the city.

The migratory crisis in Ceuta occurred after the illegal entry of approximately 72,000 people in the Spanish city, which created a situation of humanitarian and logistical emergency.

The 309 million euro plan aims to mitigate the effects of this crisis, which overloaded the services and infrastructures of the Spanish autonomous city in African territory.

The investment represents a significant effort by the Spanish government to manage one of the biggest migratory crises that Ceuta has ever faced.

The city of Lagos, in the Portuguese Algarve, was highlighted by Lonely Planet as the region's best choice for dining and nightlife, featuring among the eight best places to visit in the Algarve in a 2026 article. The Australian publication emphasizes that although Lagos offers much during the day — including beaches such as Praia de Dona Ana, rock formations at Ponta da Piedade, and historical heritage such as the Castle of the Governors and Fort of Ponta da Bandeira — it is after sunset that the city gains its greatest charm, with fresh fish and seafood restaurants, craft beer bars and dance venues that bring the cobblestone streets of the historic centre to life.
