PSP identifies 182 elderly people in situations of social risk

Observador1 September 2026 at 11:15

PSP – Public Security Police carried out an operation dedicated to the elderly population, during which it identified 182 elderly people in situations of social risk. The operation's main objective was to intensify direct contact and dialogue with people over 65 years of age.

The initiative aimed at the early possible detection of cases of social fragility among the senior population. Through this closer contact, the authorities intend to identify vulnerable people who may need support.

This action is part of a growing concern with the well-being and safety of the elderly, a segment of the population frequently more exposed to situations of isolation and vulnerability. The work developed by PSP in these operations allows for the creation of a proximity network with the elderly community.

The Australian publication emphasizes that although Lagos offers much during the day — including beaches such as Praia de Dona Ana, rock formations at Ponta da Piedade, and historical heritage such as the Castle of the Governors and Fort of Ponta da Bandeira — it is after sunset that the city gains its greatest charm, with fresh fish and seafood restaurants, craft beer bars and dance venues that bring the cobblestone streets of the historic centre to life.
