Singer Alfredo Soares died this Monday, at age 65, following a motorcycle accident on Highway 24 (A24), between Nogueira and Vila Real. The musician, from Tabuaço, became known mainly for the tracks "Portugal, Tenho Saudade" and "Não Te Esqueci", being considered a "legend" of Portuguese popular music.
The accident involved a collision between the motorcycle Alfredo Soares was riding and two cars. The circumstances that caused the crash are still to be determined, with the investigation being handled by the relevant authorities.
After the collision, the singer was taken in serious condition to Hospital de Vila Real, where he ultimately died at the same hospital unit, despite medical efforts to save him.
