The fire that hit the Valpaços region destroyed about 1,800 hectares of agricultural area in the municipality of Mirandela. The fire caused significant damage to the land and crops of local farmers, affecting a vast area dedicated to agriculture in the Trás-os-Montes region.
The Government officially recognized this fire as a natural catastrophe, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and the devastating impact on the agricultural community in the area. This classification allows triggering extraordinary support measures for those affected.
To address the losses, the Executive made available a package of 10 million euros intended to support farmers who lost their crops and farms due to the fire. This funding aims to help in the recovery and reconstruction of agricultural activity in the affected region.
