The Portuguese State recorded a surplus of 282 million euros by July, representing a significant decrease of 2,040.1 million euros compared to the same period of 2025, according to the budget execution synthesis released today.
The balance of Public Administrations decreased by 2,040.1 million euros, with this drop mainly explained by the reduction in the Central Administration balance, which fell by 3,500.9 million euros.
Without the effect of payments for settling debts of the National Health Service, the reduction would have been 2,241.2 million euros, which shows the significant impact of these payments on budget execution.
The data was released today by the Entity, responsible for the budget execution synthesis that monitors the financial situation of the Portuguese State.
