Tourist overnight stays decline for 10 consecutive months in the Azores

The Azores recorded, for the tenth consecutive month, a decline in the number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation. In July, the Portuguese island region observed a 2.2% drop in the number of tourist overnight stays compared to the same period the previous year.

This decline trend has extended over ten consecutive months, representing a significant challenge for the region's tourism sector. The most recent drop maintains the negative trajectory that has affected the Azores' tourism indicators in recent months.

The data confirming this decline was released by the Regional Statistics Service, known by the acronym SREA, the body responsible for compiling and publishing official statistics in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. The publication of these figures comes at a time when the region is seeking answers to reverse this downward trend in tourism.
