The Municipality of Valpaços is coordinating a joint response with Parish Councils and agricultural associations to support producers affected by the fires in the nine parishes hit by the blaze. The Mayor, Jorge Mata Pires, met with those responsible for these parishes and with the agricultural organizations in the municipality to define a coordinated recovery strategy.
At the center of this strategy is government measure C.4.1.3 – Restoration of Productive Potential, aimed at supporting devastated agricultural holdings. The Municipality will make the Promotion and Investment Office available to accompany producers in verifying eligibility conditions, organizing documentation, and preparing applications.
Parish Councils will play a fundamental role as the link between farmers and municipal technical support. Their direct knowledge of the terrain will allow them to identify situations, report damages, and direct producers to available services, simplifying an administrative process that can be decisive for resuming agricultural activity.
The measure covers individuals and legal entities with losses exceeding 30% of productive potential, with a maximum limit of 400 thousand euros per application. Support is non-repayable and includes the recovery of buildings, machinery, equipment, animals, and plantations. Funding covers 100% of the first 10 thousand euros, dropping to 80% or 50% depending on whether the beneficiary has agricultural insurance or not. Applications can be submitted until October 27, 2026.
