Carris is presenting in Lisbon the future of the Glória Funicular, which will be completely replaced by a new model. The public transport company revealed the plans for the complete modernization of this iconic means of transport in the city.

The international tender for the construction of the new funicular is expected to be launched in the first quarter of next year. This process will allow interested companies to submit their proposals for the replacement project.

Despite the complete renovation, the location where the Glória Funicular operates will remain the same, maintaining its historical and tourist importance for the Portuguese capital. The funicular is one of the most well-known tourist spots in Lisbon, connecting Baixa to Bairro Alto.
