Nova Direita wants oversight of support for student housing rentals

dnoticias.pt31 August 2026 at 16:14

Nova Direita party defends the need to oversee the support granted to university students for rental co-payment. The regional coordinator of the political force, Paulo Azevedo, considers it crucial to implement control mechanisms over these supports.

Despite recognizing the need to support young university students, Nova Direita understands that this does not exempt the oversight and rigorous control of the application of taxpayers' money.

Paulo Azevedo expresses particular concern about a possible model in which housing support may not be directly linked to effective proof of the conditions that justify the allocation of this funding.

The party thus positions itself in favor of a higher education support policy that combines the need for student assistance with transparency and control in the use of public funds.
