After the cool weather, thermometers will soar: temperatures rise 12 degrees

After several days of cool weather in mainland Portugal, temperatures will rise significantly again. The change is expected to occur between Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the forecast, thermometers may register a rise of up to 12 degrees in some regions of the country. In the interior, temperatures should reach 42 degrees Celsius. This rise marks the end of the period of lower temperatures that was felt in recent days.

A severe hailstorm with stones the size of tennis balls and violent winds hit northern Italy last Friday, causing major destruction mainly in the city of Cremona, in Lombardy. At least 43 people were injured, about 10,000 cars were damaged, and dozens of buildings had their roofs and windows destroyed. Thousands of trees were knocked down and 12 families had to leave their homes after a building was deemed uninhabitable. Among the damages, at least ten churches were hit, including Cremona's Cathedral, which lost part of one of its towers and had the rose window glass damaged, as well as the Civic Tower, one of the city's symbols. The storm also caused damage in Switzerland and France.
