The six cyclists of the "Pedalar pela Vida" project were received this Sunday at Rossio in Portalegre by dozens of people who wanted to mark the team's return to the city, after completing the solidarity crossing of the Pyrenees.

Gustavo do Canto the best Portuguese at Mediterranean Games

Gustavo do Canto finished in 10th place in the men's triathlon event at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, being the best Portuguese in competition. The athlete completed the race in 56.45 minutes, 2.58 minutes behind the winner, Greek Panagiotis Bitados (53.47 minutes). The competition took place on the city circuit of Taranto, with high temperatures that hindered athletes' performance. The 2026 Mediterranean Games bring together 3854 athletes from 26 countries between August 21 and September 3.

Gold doubling for Pimenta

Portuguese Fernando Pimenta became world champion in K1 5,000 meters in Poznan, Poland, completing the race in 24.15.72 minutes and beating South African Hamish Lovemore and Danish Mads Pedersen. This title joins the gold won on Saturday in the K1 1,000 meters event, making a double gold for the Limiano athlete. Pimenta had already been world champion at this distance in 2017 and 2018, also having won silver in 2021, 2023 and 2024, and bronze in 2019. Portugal finished the Canoe World Championships with four podiums in total.
