A 6-year-old child was rescued alive in Nepal, almost 60 hours after being trapped under mud and debris dragged by the floods. The rescue was carried out in Timure, a locality near the border with China, which is one of the areas most affected by the tragedy. The moment the girl was recovered was recorded in a video released by the Nepalese Armed Police.
The tragedy has already caused at least 750 deaths and the number of missing persons remains above three thousand. The floods destroyed several homes and caused significant material damage in various regions of northern Nepal.
The river flow in the affected area has increased in recent hours, but authorities reported there should not be a risk of major flooding. The girl was found by the Nepalese Armed Police during the ongoing search and rescue operations in the region.
