The Iniciativa Liberal (IL) accused PS and PSD of having abandoned the Portuguese middle class. This criticism was presented in Mariana Leitão's speech, which outlined the party's position on the country's economic and social situation.
In her speech, Mariana Leitão presented three measures that she considers priorities for this legislative session. These measures aim to address what IL describes as a situation of vulnerability for the middle class.
According to IL, the Portuguese middle class is "under attack", suggesting that the policies implemented by the two largest parties have not adequately protected this segment of the population. This position reflects IL's strategy of positioning itself as a defender of middle-class interests.
The liberal party thus presents this analysis as the foundation for its political proposals, trying to distinguish itself from the two main traditional parties in representing the interests of middle-class taxpayers.
