The 2026-2027 school year will begin with several open conflicts in the education sector. A teachers' strike that became indefinite for a month was suspended, but not cancelled, remaining as a threat on the horizon. The teaching unrest that triggered this stoppage still hasn't received all the answers to its demands, although negotiations have continued partially during the summer.
One of the main points of discord is the reform of the inspectorate that intended to include among its functions the pursuit of "indoctrination" in schools. This proposal was rejected by school principals, teachers and the educational inspection itself, creating another front of conflict at the start of the school year.
To welcome the new course with demands, a large demonstration is organized for the 12th aimed at keeping the teaching struggle alive and not letting the demands that motivated the previous strike fall by the wayside. The march aims to show that the education sector remains mobilized despite the temporary suspension of the stoppage.
