Brazil's Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, attended in person the session of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) on Tuesday (15) that could result in the opening of an investigation against Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Gonet's decision caused discomfort and embarrassment among colleagues at the Federal Public Ministry (MPF).
Gonet was mentioned 24 times in the Federal Police report on the messages exchanged between Alexandre de Moraes and banker Daniel Vorcaro. His presence in the plenary during the trial generated discomfort among his peers.
The trial concerns the possible opening of an investigation against the STF justice, something that represents an unusual situation in the Brazilian legal landscape. The personal attendance of the head of the Federal Public Ministry at the trial reinforced the significance of the case.
