Mendonça, who is the rapporteur of the Master case at the Court, rebutted the accusations by saying that Moraes was lying. The confrontation between the two justices occurred in the court chamber during the session in which the other magistrates decide whether or not to open an investigation against Moraes.
The trial in question involves the evaluation of a set of messages found on banker Daniel V.'s phone, which are part of the process related to the Master case. The Court is analyzing whether there is sufficient evidence to justify opening an investigation against Moraes himself based on this evidentiary material.
