The Socialist Party asked the Government for documents and the list of personalities involved in the purchase of 13.7% of REN (Redes Energéticas Nacionais). The social democrats thus want to clarify all the details of this operation.
The socialists criticized the Executive of Luís Montenegro for spending almost 400 million euros to acquire a stake that had been sold for almost half that value. The operation raises questions about the management of public funds.
The PS also criticized the assignment of bonuses exceeding 50 million euros to the shareholder within the scope of this transaction. The social democrats consider these decisions harmful to the country's interests.
The purchase of the 13.7% stake in REN by the Portuguese State thus generated strong opposition from the main opposition party, which now demands full transparency about the entire process.
