The PCP presented a set of measures to address the rising cost of living, proposing a minimum 50 euro increase in pensions. The communists criticized the "one-off" solutions put forward by the Government, arguing that these are not sufficient to meet the needs of pensionists.
Among the measures proposed by the PCP are the interim increase of pensions and retirement benefits, raising the national minimum wage to 1100 euros and controlling the prices of essential goods. These proposals were presented as alternatives to the executive's measures.
The party considers that a significant boost to workers' and pensioners' incomes is necessary, given the inflationary pressure that has been affecting Portuguese families. The communists argue that structural measures are more appropriate than temporary responses.
