The Federation of Firefighters of the District of Setúbal demanded the urgent renewal of firefighting vehicles from the humanitarian associations of the district. The entity warned that part of the existing fleet is over 25 or 30 years old.

Firefighters in the district face operational difficulties due to the advanced state of degradation of the vehicles. The situation puts at risk the response capacity to emergencies in the region.

The federation emphasized the urgent need for investment in new equipment to ensure firefighters' safety and service effectiveness. This demand reflects growing concerns about aging emergency response capabilities.

Why this matters

Readers in the Setúbal region are directly affected because antiquated vehicles put at risk the safety of firefighters and the population in emergencies. The demand arises in a context of continued aging of the fleets of humanitarian associations, which frequently depend on public funding to replace essential firefighting equipment. WHY: Readers in the Setúbal region are directly affected because antiquated vehicles put at risk the response capacity of firefighters in emergencies. The Federation's demand comes after diagnostics identifying fleets over 25 or 30 years old, compromising firefighting effectiveness and the safety of both operatives and the populations served.
