The Judicial Court of the Madeira District sentenced this Tuesday, September 15, a 29-year-old Nepalese man at the time of the facts to three years of effective imprisonment, for attempted rape. The reading of the judgment took place this Tuesday, with the panel of judges considering the facts in the indictment proven.
The crime occurred in the early hours of June 2, 2025, in Funchal. The court based its conviction, among other elements, on the statements made by the victim and the testimonies of three witnesses heard during the trial. The man was found guilty of attempted rape, a crime that under Portuguese law is punishable by effective imprisonment.
