Last 10 thousand vouchers from ANDA Conhecer Portugal are now available

SAPO15 September 2026 at 14:15

The last 10 thousand vouchers from the ANDA Conhecer Portugal program are now available for application. This program is aimed at young people aged between 18 and 30, offering them the opportunity to travel by train for seven consecutive days and stay for six nights in Youth Hostels.

The vouchers cover not only rail transport but also the breakfast included in the accommodation. In total, there are 36 Youth Hostels participating in the program across Portugal.

The vouchers can be used during a specific period, running between October 5, 2026 and July 4, 2027. Interested young people must apply to ensure access to this travel and accommodation offer.

Why this matters

Young Portuguese people between 18 and 30 years old now have an affordable opportunity to travel around the country, benefiting from reduced-price rail transport and accommodation. This initiative follows other government measures to promote domestic tourism and young people's access to discovering Portugal.

University of Évora creates borderless alliance for culture

The University of Évora is promoting the cross-border alliance "A Fronteira da Cultura" (The Border of Culture), which should bring together about 30 entities and institutions from the Alentejo and Extremadura, with a founding meeting scheduled for the second half of October. The project aims to create a cultural corridor between six cities — Cáceres, Mérida and Badajoz in Extremadura, and Elvas, Estremoz and Évora in the Alentejo — promoting joint projects, greater circulation of artists and researchers, and seeking European funding. The initiative also aims to connect with Évora 2027 and Cáceres 2031's bids for European Capital of Culture, transforming the peripheral position of these regions into an advantage for Iberian cooperation.

International artists can gain space in major transformation of Miami airport</minimax:tool_call> international performers could soon have a prominent platform at one of America's busiest airports.

Miami-Dade County has opened an international call to select visual artists who may develop public art works at Miami International Airport (MIA), with projects ranging from USD $100 thousand to $500 thousand or more. The initiative is part of the airport's modernization program and is conducted by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. The expectation is to select between 30 and 40 professional artists, local, national, and international, who may compete for specific opportunities over at least two years. In the first phase, it is not necessary to submit specific proposals — only professional qualifications, such as images of previous works and a resume. Registration is free and closes on September 21, 2026. Selected artists will later receive compensation to develop specific proposals and may have travel expenses covered.
