Re-ignitions of the fire in Proença-a-Nova continue to mobilize hundreds of personnel on the ground. The situation keeps authorities on maximum alert as firefighting operations are underway.
The largest fire is occurring in Alvito da Beira, where 620 personnel were concentrated by late morning. These elements had the support of 207 ground vehicles to combat the flames.
The operation also counts on six aerial assets that assist in fighting the flames, allowing for faster and more effective attacks on hard-to-reach areas.
The Proença-a-Nova area has been particularly affected, with re-ignitions making the work of firefighters and civil protection forces more difficult as they try to control the situation.
