The musical project PHOLE, by João Gigante, will perform on September 19th at 9:30 PM, at Casino Afifense, in a trio concert that brings together concertina, percussion and electric bass. Originating from Viana do Castelo, the project has a trajectory of more than a decade, having initially started as a solo endeavor.
The current trio lineup is composed of João Gigante on concertina, Vítor Lima on percussion and Jaime Alvarez on electric bass. Throughout its trajectory, PHOLE has performed at venues and festivals such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Museum, Serralves, the Bons Sons Festival and this year at the Festival Instrumental Portugal.
The project explores the possibilities of the concertina, in a work that starts from memory and the relationship with the places and stories that accompany João Gigante's journey. At Casino Afifense, PHOLE continues its research around the traditional instrument, seeking new places and possibilities for expression in contemporaneity. Casino Afifense is described as one of the most striking venues in the cultural history of Viana.
