Between September 22nd and 26th, the University of Porto will hold a series of free activities as part of the European Heritage Days 2026, an initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission. The theme of the celebrations is "Revive, resist, reinvent", inviting citizens to explore and value European cultural heritage.
The event includes visits to emblematic spaces such as the Museum of Natural History and Science, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the Porto Planetarium. The program is aimed at all ages and seeks to promote reflection on the preservation of cultural heritage in a world marked by digitalization and climate change.
Among the main attractions, the exhibition "Maravilhário" stands out, as well as practical workshops such as "Hands in the Earth" at the Botanical Garden, and the visit "The University and the City: memory, resistance and reinvention", which offers a unique perspective on the history of the Historic Rectory Building. Other exhibitions on display include "Sad Portugal" at Casa dos Livros and "Hopscotch Games" at the Faculty of Fine Arts.
Participation in the activities is open to all, although some workshops require prior registration. Through this initiative, U.Porto reinforces its commitment to education, culture, and the valorization of heritage, inviting the community to participate in this celebration.
