A wildfire broke out today at 4:05 PM in Alvito da Beira, in the municipality of Proença-a-Nova, in the Beira Baixa region. The fire started in a forested area and is raging with great intensity, according to a source from the Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Beira Baixa.

By 8:00 PM, the fire was mobilizing 404 operatives, supported by 122 ground vehicles and one aerial unit, according to Civil Protection. Authorities continue to work on combating the flames.

The fire originated near Alvito da Beira, in an area characterized by dense forest vegetation, which has hindered containment operations. The causes of the fire have not yet been released.
