oglobo14 September 2026 at 21:10

The Justice of São Paulo maintained the temporary arrest of Ronaldo dos Santos Vivaqua, identified as the hidden partner of one of the construction companies responsible for the work on a building that collapsed on top of a house in Penha, East Zone of the capital of São Paulo. The collapse occurred in the early morning of last Saturday (12) and resulted in the death of six people.

In the decision this Monday (14), Judge Arielle Martinho stated that the need for Ronaldo's arrest had already been analyzed during the authorization of the temporary detention, which was granted by Justice at the request of the Civil Police, and maintained the arrest order.

In addition to Ronaldo, Cristiano Vivaqua, the businessman's son, and Isis Brandão, listed as responsible for the construction company, also had temporary arrests decreed. According to the Public Security Secretariat, Cristiano and Isis remain at large.

The police reported that the investigations into the case continue in progress to clarify the responsibilities for the collapse and the operations of the construction company responsible for the work.

Why this matters

Readers in the São Paulo region are directly affected because a fatal collapse occurred in a populous neighborhood, and police continue to search for those responsible. The judicial decision to maintain the arrest of one of the suspects indicates that investigations are advancing to identify who was financing and managing the irregular construction that resulted in the death of six people, including a Bolivian family.
