The PSP identified an increase in irregular immigrant arrivals to Portugal by train and bus. This trend represents a change in entry patterns to the country.
"Secondary movements", originating from other European cities, are increasing significantly. This indicates that immigrants are moving to Portugal after having already passed through other points in Europe.
The statements were made by an official from the National Unit for Foreigners and Borders, who commented on the situation without associating Portugal with any operation of massive identification of illegal immigrants.
The official categorically refuses the idea that there is a "hunt" for illegal immigrants in Portugal, denying any interpretation in that sense and emphasizing that authorities act within the established legal parameters.
