The largest student residence in Portugal was inaugurated in Braga, representing an innovative solution for various urban problems in the city. The project transformed a degraded historic building into a modern student housing complex.
The residence responded to the growing shortage of housing for students in the city, an issue that has affected thousands of young people seeking Braga for academic attendance. This problem was especially acute given the increased demand for places at the universities in the region.
In addition to solving the shortage of beds for students, the project also managed to stop the degradation of a historic building in the city center. The rehabilitation of the property preserved the local architectural heritage, giving it a new function and life.
The project also contributed to combating the loss of young population in Braga's historic center, attracting students to live in the central urban area and contributing to the revitalization of this area of the city.
