A sudden illness in Serra da Estrela prompted a large-scale rescue operation, involving firefighters, FEPC and a Portuguese Air Force helicopter. The victim was located in the area of Lagoa dos Cântaros, a hard-to-reach area in the mountain.
The affected person was experiencing severe respiratory difficulty, which required a rapid and specialized response. The complexity of the terrain in Serra da Estrela made it necessary to mobilize multiple entities to ensure an effective evacuation.
