Strong winds recorded in the early morning of this Saturday caused the fall of two trees in Rio de Janeiro. One of them blocked Rua Pinheiro Machado, near Fluminense, in the direction of Santa Bárbara Tunnel. According to the Centro de Operações Rio (COR), the street remains closed while Comlurb teams work on removing the tree.
The other tree fell on Rua Figueiras Lima, in Riachuelo. According to COR, there was no impact on traffic at the location. Drivers passing through Laranjeiras should follow Rua Paissandu, according to recommendations from the agency, which reports that traffic conditions are good on the alternative route.
The strongest winds were recorded between the early morning and the start of the day. According to Alerta Rio, gusts reached 67.7 km/h at the Forte de Copacabana station. The weather remains unstable in the city, with forecasts indicating continued rainfall.
