Rain is expected to return to Portuguese territory already on Monday, September 14, after several days of relatively stable weather conditions. However, precipitation will not affect the entire country equally, with some regions continuing under the influence of hot weather and mostly clear skies.
Precipitation should concentrate mainly in the Azores archipelago. In the Western Group, comprising the islands of Flores and Corvo, periods of very cloudy skies with good clear spells, generally light showers and northeast winds between 10 and 30 kilometres per hour are expected. In the Central Group, which includes the islands of Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa and Terceira, periods of light rain are expected during dawn and early morning, gradually improving with clear spells from the morning onwards. The Eastern Group, where São Miguel and Santa Maria are located, will escape the rain.
In mainland Portugal, the scenario will be quite different, with hot weather, mostly clear or clear skies during most of the day. Only in the coastal area of the northern region is cloud cover expected at the end of Monday, without precipitation. Wind will generally be light from the east quadrant, rotating to northwest from mid-afternoon onwards, and a small drop in maximum temperature is expected on the west coast.
In the Madeira archipelago, Monday should be marked by generally partly cloudy skies, light to moderate wind from the east quadrant, presence of suspended dust and a small rise in temperatures.
