A 53-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Viseu Court for sexually abusing his minor stepdaughter over an extended period of time. The abuser was found guilty of 130 acts of sexual abuse against the child.
The case involved a minor who was the convicted man's stepdaughter, meaning the daughter of his partner or wife. The abuses are said to have occurred over several years while the victim lived in the same house as the abuser.
In addition to the 10-year prison sentence, the court decided that the pedophile must pay 60,000 euros in compensation to the victim. This amount is intended to compensate for the physical and psychological damage caused by the repeated abuses.
The trial took place at the Judicial Court of Viseu, in the central region of Portugal. The sentence reflects the gravity of the proven facts, which involved a high number of sexual assaults against a vulnerable child.
