Mexican forensic authorities authorized the burial of 117 bodies that remained unidentified or unclaimed. The mass burial took place in the city of Ciudad Juárez, located on the border with the United States.
With this new authorization, the total number of people buried without identification or unclaimed rises to 560 during the current government of the state of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico.
Ciudad Juárez is known for being one of the Mexican cities most affected by violence linked to drug trafficking and irregular immigration, which explains the large number of unidentified bodies in its forensic facilities.
