The Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira will invest over 1.7 million euros in the 2026/2027 school year in measures additional to the transferred competences in the Education area, covering inclusion, human resources, digital literacy, school support and school community capacity building.
Inclusion is one of the main priorities, with 400 thousand euros for strengthening operational assistants, ensuring a response above the Ministry of Education's ratio, and 150 thousand euros for equipment and didactic materials for students with special educational needs. The municipality also invests 150 thousand euros in Before and After School Care Activities.
Digital literacy receives 278.5 thousand euros, distributed across programming and robotics in pre-school, a municipal computer grant for the 1st cycle, and reinforcement of the computer network and digital security. The reinforcement of reading skills includes 25 thousand euros for school libraries and 15 thousand euros for a digital reading learning platform.
The municipality also maintains 262 thousand euros for swimming lessons in the 4th year of the 1st cycle, 100 thousand euros in scholarships for secondary and higher education, the Official School Material Voucher and 100 thousand euros for transport for school trips. The school network serves approximately 12,700 students, with 31 additional classes compared to the previous year.
