From Wednesday to Saturday, Santa Cruz will host the fifth edition of the Literary Festival of Western Rio (FLOR), an event organized by NGO Ser Cidadão. This year, the festival will pay homage to writer and playwright Dias Gomes (1922-1999), author of classics of theater, film, and television such as "The Promise Keeper," "O bem-amado," and "Roque Santeiro."
FLOR will be held at the headquarters of NGO Ser Cidadão, located at Rua Fernanda 140, in a historic house. The house was used as the setting for the city hall of Sucupira, the fictional town in "O bem-amado," a work that was released as a soap opera in 1973 and became a miniseries on Globo in the early 1980s.
Entry to the event is free. According to organizers, the festival is of fundamental importance to the dynamics of the entity's library, ensuring that the space remains active throughout the year and being essential for maintaining an updated collection, consisting of entertainment and reference works.
