Guido Ventapane, grandson of sambista Martinho da Vila, was announced as the new drum corps master of União de Jacarepaguá, taking command starting from the 2027 carnival. The samba school parades in the Bronze Series on Avenida Comandante, in Campinho, in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro. Guido's arrival marks the beginning of a new cycle for the association's drum corps, which has already begun its preparation for the next year.
Before taking over União de Jacarepaguá, Guido Ventapane accumulated experience behind the scenes of various samba schools, having joined the boards of associations such as Unidos da Ponte, Botafogo Samba Clube, and Acadêmicos de Niterói. This trajectory gave him knowledge about the daily life of schools and the organization necessary for carnival parades.
The new drum corps master emphasizes that he grew up with samba as a fundamental part of his life and says he is very proud of his family's history in Brazilian popular music. However, he recognizes that taking over a drum corps represents an enormous responsibility and the beginning of his own journey in the universe of samba.
Guido Ventapane says he intends to build his path together with the percussionists of União de Jacarepaguá, respecting the history of the samba school and working intensely to make a great carnival in 2027.
