The Literary Festival of West Rio (FLOR) reaches its fifth edition in Santa Cruz, taking place from Wednesday to Saturday. The event, organized by NGO Ser Cidadão, will pay tribute to writer and playwright Dias Gomes (1922-1999), responsible for classic works in theater, film, and television such as "O pagador de promessas," "O bem-amado," and "Roque Santeiro."
The festival will be held at the headquarters of NGO Ser Cidadão, a historic house located at Rua Fernanda 140, which has historical importance for having served as the set for the city hall of Sucupira, the fictional town in "O bem-amado." The soap opera was launched in 1973 and in the early 1980s was transformed into a miniseries by Globo.
The event is free and plays a fundamental role in the dynamics of the library maintained by the NGO. According to the organizers, the festival ensures that the space remains active throughout the entire year, being essential for maintaining an updated collection of entertainment and reference works. The space also serves as an important area for students in the region.
