Sines received 95% of the gas that entered Portugal in 2025, including three Russian ships

The port of Sines received 95% of the natural gas that entered Portugal during 2025, consolidating itself as the main entry point for energy in the country. The local Liquefied Natural Gas terminal carried out 46 cargo discharges from methane carriers throughout the year, including three Russian ships. This volume represents a decrease of seven discharges compared to 2024. However, the terminal managed to compensate for this reduction through the increase of land operations, having refueled 7,546 tanker trucks, which represents an increase of 214 tanker trucks compared to the previous year. The Sines terminal thus continues to play a fundamental role in Portugal's energy supply, concentrating the overwhelming majority of the country's natural gas imports.
