BCP bought own shares worth almost 210 million euros under its share buyback program. This operation is part of a capital management and shareholder value creation strategy by the Portuguese bank.
The approved buyback program contemplates a total amount of 407.5 million euros, representing a significant slice of the financial institution's capital. By Friday, BCP had already acquired approximately 194 million own shares.
The acquired shares represent 1.31% of the bank's share capital, which demonstrates a substantial investment in the repurchase of securities. This percentage indicates that BCP is proceeding significantly with the execution of the approved program.
BCP is the largest Portuguese bank by assets and this share buyback operation comes in a context of financial solidification of the institution. The program aims to optimize the capital structure and potentially benefit shareholders through the increase in value of the remaining shares.
