The Ministry of Public Prosecution recommended that a municipality in Piauí adopt measures to combat the use of paredões, large sound systems used at events. The recommendation aims to curb the practice that can cause disturbance to public peace.
The offenders would be trying to defend themselves from citations by citing supposed verbal permissions granted by the City Hall for the use of the sound equipment. The Ministry of Public Prosecution seeks to clarify that authorizations of this type would not have legal validity.
The recommendation reinforces the need for compliance with coexistence norms and noise control in the municipality. Local authorities should guide the population about the irregularities related to the improper use of paredões.
