"The secret is resilience": Antero Freitas speaks about the 19th Youth Festival of São Torcato

The 19th edition of the São Torcato Youth Festival kicked off on a Friday, organized by the local Parish Council. The president of the Parish Council, Antero Freitas, emphasized that the event is much more than music, theater and comedy, also serving as a boost for local commerce and an attraction for visitors to the village. According to the local official, the festival distinguishes itself from the more traditional and religious programs in the region, seeking to offer a differentiated alternative in terms of music and entertainment, always with the aim of providing family bonding in safety.

Among the highlights of the program, Antero Freitas highlighted the performance of DJ Pette on Saturday, who had recently been through the international festival Tomorrowland. The president of the Parish Council also pointed out two novelties of this edition: the debut of the São Torcato Children's Theater Group, formed by four young people from the village, and the inclusion of pagode on the lineup, with Grupo Sambar. The local official noted that the audience varies throughout the night, with families and elderly people until midnight, then giving way to a younger audience with the arrival of the DJs.

Regarding the nearly two decades of longevity of the event, Antero Freitas attributed the success to the resilience of a group of volunteers: "we have a great group of friends who help us make this happen." This year, the organization also had increased support from the Municipality of Guimarães, a contribution that the local official considered decisive, given that the festival is organized largely through the voluntary work of that group of friends.

Although k-pop is known for its colorful style, many fans attended in black on the fifth day of Rock in Rio, which celebrates the Korean genre. The phenomenon is explained by the strong influence of rock and metal on the sound of Stray Kids, the main act of the night, which has black among its official colors. According to digital marketing specialist Dieyne Jacomasse, many metal fans migrated to k-pop precisely because of this heavier sound, dressing with chains and dark tones in reference to the bands they follow.
