ULS Viseu Dão-Lafões expands the scope of action of mental health support teams

SAPO Notícias11 September 2026 at 17:09

The Local Health Unit (ULS) Viseu Dão-Lafões announced today that it is extending home support from community teams in the area of adult mental health to three more municipalities. This expansion represents a reinforcement of mental health services available in the region, allowing more people to have access to specialized follow-up in the comfort of their homes.

The community mental health teams are composed of professionals from different areas who work together to provide support to adults with psychiatric or psychological follow-up needs. The home intervention model aims to reach people who, for various reasons, have difficulty traveling to health facilities.

With this expansion, ULS Viseu Dão-Lafões intends to cover a larger geographical area, ensuring that mental health services reach populations in municipalities that until now had less access to this type of support. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to bring mental health care closer to the community.

The announcement was made today by ULS Viseu Dão-Lafões, which manages health services in the Viseu, Dão and Lafões region, covering several municipalities in the Viseu district and neighboring municipalities.
