Presidential candidate Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) was diagnosed with pneumonia after chest CT scans performed at Hospital Vila Nova Star in São Paulo. Initially, doctors had indicated that the former president of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) and former governor of Goiás was suffering from acute pharyngitis, but the exams revealed the pneumonia condition.
Caiado was admitted yesterday to the São Paulo hospital and remains under medical care. According to a note signed by cardiologist Ludhmila Abrahão Hajjar, the presidential candidate is clinically stable, breathing spontaneously, and showing good clinical evolution. There is no information about a discharge date in the document.
The latest Quaest presidential poll, commissioned by O GLOBO newspaper and Globo, shows Caiado with 3% voting intention in the first round, tied with Renan Santos (Missão). Leading the race are Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) with 36%, Flav Bolsonaro (PL) with 29%, and Augusto Cury (Avante) in third with 8%.
