Benfica's SAD became the most valuable sports company in Portugal, with an estimated valuation of 581.23 million euros, thus dethroning Sporting from the top spot of the ranking. This change in positions on the podium of Portuguese SADs was revealed by Brands Capital Sports, the entity responsible for the valuation study.
FC Porto comes in second place with a valuation of 513.63 million euros, while Sporting fell to third place with an estimate of 493.12 million euros. Thus, the three main Portuguese SADs remain at the top, but with a new hierarchy.
The update to the valuation methodology by Brands Capital Sports introduced three new variables in the study. The eligible value of B teams is now considered, the contractual situation of players in the main squads, including contracts nearing expiry, renewals and loans, and the new financial results made public by the clubs.
According to the person responsible for the study, the methodology update aims to provide a more comprehensive analysis of each SAD's capacity to create and maintain value over time.
