French billionaire Bernard Arnault, founder and chairman of LVMH, left the group of the 10 richest people in the world, where he had been since 2017. With this exit, the magnate's net worth fell to $143 billion, approximately €123 billion, and the top 10 is now entirely dominated by Americans, mostly from the technology sector. Warren Buffett, investor and former CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, has joined the exclusive group.
The list is led by Tesla owner Elon Musk, with a fortune of $918.8 billion. Among the technology sector billionaires completing the top 10 are Larry Page, Jeff Bezos, Sergey Brin, and Michael Dell.
The LVMH group started the first half of the year with negative results, earning €38.6 billion, representing a 3% decline in revenue and a 4% drop in profits compared to the same period in 2025. The group's organic growth accelerated to 3% in the second quarter, after reaching 1% in the first three months of the year, and without the Middle East conflict the numbers could have reached 4%.
Given the results, investors began probing Arnault about the group's succession plan, but the richest man in France remained silent. The French press reports that the 77-year-old billionaire distributes power and visibility among his five children, testing them at the helm of the group's various maisons and across the different business areas.
